Destination Ajijic and Lake Chapala

The shore of Lake Chapala is one of the worlds’ friendliest places, surrounded by natural beauty, tranquility and enjoying one of the best climates in the world. The lake is the largest water reserve in Mexico, leading provider of the vital liquid to the city of Guadalajara.

Bordering the lake you can find charming traditional Mexican villages, among which stands out Ajijic, a place where both local and foreign enjoy outdoor activities, spectacular lake and mountain views and perfect temperature that ranges between 23 °C and 34°C all year round.

Ajijic is well connected by road to the city, where we can find attractions such as theaters, museums, and shopping centers.

There is a large community of foreigners in the area, either seasonal or full-time residents that come from different parts of the world, creating a very exotic blending of cultures. The main factors for foreigners to settle in this area include a better quality of life due to its exceptional climate, accessible living costs, and world- class health services.

Recreational and social life of Ajijic offers a variety of activities such as handicraft production, charitable activities, workshops, a large variety of restaurants, shops and galleries. There are spaces dedicated to music, cultural centers, museums, cinemas and a philharmonic orchestra. For those who enjoy sports, Ajijic counts with golf clubs, a yacht club, several spas, boat tours and more.

Located only 25 minutes away from Guadalajara International Airport, the expat community of Ajijic grants various social spaces as well as non-profit organizations that produce social work for the community.
